Goldcorp sites undertake rigorous safety programs to identify and eliminate workplace risks, prevent accidents and improve safety. Musselwhite is progressing with the Behavioral Based Safety Program which empowers each employee to control the jobs and tasks in their work areas and identify high risk situations. The aim is to provide a workplace that is "safe enough for our families".
An important health initiative is the establishment of a Health and Wellness Program. The program's main objective is to improve the quality of life of our employees through the monitoring of personnel health, education on the physical and mental benefits of regular exercise and the proper ergonomic design of our work areas.
In 2007 the Musselwhite Mine Rescue team reached the finals in the Ontario Provincial Underground Mine Rescue Competition.
